The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets of event planning and implementation, volunteer management, and community outreach.
It will offer experience in the use of current business and development technologies, including the use of a computer and software applications.
Our internships offer the opportunity to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization, further develop communication and presentation skills, and experience skills in team collaboration and customer service.
Internship Overview:
Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
Internship Duration: Spring (January 16 – May 3)
Hybrid: work from home and in-person
Based in Anchorage, Alaska

Responsibilities:
Internship Outcomes:
Responsibilities include assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities and logistics support for the Anchorage and Fairbanks Go Red for Women, Alaska Heart Run & Fairbanks Heart Walk.
Work with Event Coordinators, Development Directors, and Executive Directors to support event planning and logistics for ongoing campaigns.
Assistance with pre-event planning, day of execution, and event wrap-up projects.
Work within event support systems.
Develop collateral for events including save the dates, invitations, and programs.
Help with volunteer recruitment and management.
Qualifications:
Desired Qualifications
Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
Ability to work professionally in corporate and non-profit environments.
Ability to use Microsoft Office programs.
Strong leadership experience.
Basic knowledge of Canva.
20hrs/week availability, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5:00pm.
Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation – This position will pay $23/hour.
