*Visitor Information Center Specialist* This position is the lead for paid and volunteer staff working under the supervision of Visit Anchorage’s Director of the Visit Anchorage Visitor Centers in downtown Anchorage and at the airport.
In this full-time, hourly position, you’ll be responsible for: * Helping visitors and residents plan their leisure time in Anchorage, the surrounding region, and across Alaska through the Visitor Information Centers and other Anchorage locations with high volumes of visitors and residents enjoying leisure time.
* Staffing Visit Anchorage’s presence at community events that are likely to attract leisure visitors as well as Alaskans eager to enjoy their own backyard.
* Supporting the work of the Visitor Services Director for part-time staff and volunteer training, Volunteer In-Service meetings, and Visitor Information Center daily upkeep.
* Scheduling Visit Anchorage’s mascot talent for a variety of public appearances.
* Administrative tasks including inventory tracking, event coordination, scheduling and volunteer coordination.
* Other special projects as assigned, such as data entry, ticketing, and hotel outreach.

Not content to stick to the same experiences, you actively seek out information about upcoming events, new restaurants, news about additions or changes to what’s available in Anchorage.
You use your local expertise to help others tailor their next adventure to match their time, budget, abilities, and interests.
*Core* * Exceptional customer service skills, and face to face communication skills to speak one-on-one and to groups of visitors, residents, volunteers and other groups.
* Existing knowledge of Alaska’s travel industry, businesses, and product offerings.
* Written communication skills to compose, edit, and proof email correspondence, written information for distribution to VIC staff, and internal reports.
* Understanding of Microsoft Office suite and general digital proficiency.
* Experience working with retail inventory.
* Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing multiple, competing tasks and demands.
Seeks supervisory assistance as appropriate.
* Run errands such as to our warehouse, office supply store or hotel visits.
* Flexibility to work a regular schedule that may include evenings, weekends, or special occasions.
* A valid Alaska driver’s license.
*Preferred* * Familiarity with CRM or database software equivalent (Simpleview, Salesforce, etc.
) * Conversational proficiency in a language other than English.
