Job Number:524923 Classification:Temporary Technical Grade:Temporary Staff Grade 73 Work type:On Campus, Temporary Administrative Unit:University of Alaska Anchorage School/Business unit:UAA Community & Technical College Location:Anchorage Categories: Aviation Position Summary: This is a departmental labor pool for use by the Aviation Technology Division (ATD) in hiring part-time, temporary aircraft Ramp Assistants to support the UAA, Aircraft Triage/Maintenance department.
The UAA, Aviation Technology Division, Aircraft Triage/Maintenance department, located at Merrill Field in Anchorage, AK, is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for its ATD Aircraft Ramp Assistant labor pool.
The primary purpose of these part-time, temporary, Ramp Assistant position(s) within the Aviation Technology Division, Aircraft Triage/Maintenance department is to assist in the day-to-day operations of the department in the performance of (but not limited to) the following tasks: Performing ramp services such as aircraft detailing and cleaning, sweeping, snow removal, servicing tie downs, and performing other tasks as assigned in an effort to reduced potential damage hazards to training aircraft.
Assisting with aircraft movement in and out of maintenance hangar, the aircraft ramp areas, assisting with aircraft tie downs and covering daily to ensure safety and security and limit damage risk to aircraft.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of general aviation aircraft operations and safety protocols.
Knowledge of basic hand tools and ability to use appropriately.
Skills needed to perform ramp services such as washing/detailing aircraft, performing snow removal, securing aircraft to tie downs, servicing aircraft tie down equipment, sweeping, and other tasks to ensure safety and security while limiting aircraft damage risks.
Ability to assist maintenance personnel in the movement of aircraft in/out of aircraft maintenance hangar and ramp area(s).
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Multi-tasking and prioritization skills and abilities.
Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
Preferred Experience & Education: Documented knowledge of basic general aviation aircraft ground handling and tie down experience.
Experience using basic hand tools in the performance of general labor or aviation-related tasks.
Familiarity with snow removal in an aviation environment.
Associates degree or enrollment in aviation-related degree.
Background in Aviation Industry.
Required Experience & Education: High School diploma and actively pursuing an aviation-related degree.
Introductory Ground Operations and Safety Course or combination training/experience.
Salary Information: This is a part-time, temporary staff position.
New hires will be placed on the UA temporary salary schedule, Grade 73, Step 1, $12.
77/hour.
