The Department of Corrections, Division of Health and Rehabilitative Services, is recruiting for an Accounting Technician 1 located in Anchorage, Alaska.
What you will be doing: This position will be primarily responsible for processing Health & Rehabilitation Services medical contracts as well as working with encumbrances, paying non-contractual invoices, and processing adjusting journal entries.
The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing, auditing, reconciling and paying medical and mental health contract invoices by ensuring that they are in accordance with the specific contract language and appropriate authorized discounts.
The Accounting Technician will assist the Administrative Officer 2 with budget preparations, including producing reports through MS Excel.
This position will also assist in contract negotiations, contract amendments, providing budgetary contract reports and producing a monthly high-cost report.

Who we are looking for: We are looking for someone with: Experience with IRIS-FIN, including entering payments, setting up GAE’s, and running Alder reports: Experience with medical billing & contracts; Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner in both written and verbal format; Excellent organizational skills and strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task; Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel and Outlook); Strong work ethic to include a positive attitude, punctuality, attendance and accountability.
Minimum Qualifications One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions: Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position.

post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution or high school.

CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS).
A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS.
DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.
Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.

The successful candidate must pass a criminal history check.
